I did not have two bookings, I only had one. It was under my name, and booked several months in advance. A family member (same last name, different first name) booked a unit under their name, and later canceled their booking, not me. There should have been no way for my booking to be canceled.

My husband and I booked a rental here for a few nights as we were having our wedding nearby. We had many family members staying here too. However when it was time to get our check in email, nothing came in. So we called and we were on hold for a while, then transferred around. The communication was very poor and there is no office on site. We found out they had accidentally canceled our booking, and had no space for us. Imagine that, the bride and groom now have nowhere to stay for their wedding! After calling around they found us a similar rental at a sister property, which is a 35 minute drive away from the original property (where our family was still staying), and 30 minutes from the town of Sooke, which is incredibly inconvenient for us as we were having lots of get togethers with friends and family before and after our wedding. There was also no cell service at this new property. When asked about price, they tried to charge me over double for this new property than what I was supposed to pay, and I had to argue to get them to bring it down to the original price. They did not offer us a discount, a free night, nothing for the major inconvenience. We ended up canceling our stay after 1 night and staying somewhere else, because we couldn’t be so far from our families and from town with all of the events we had planned. Total disappointment, and extra stress that we should not have had to face just before our wedding. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Check in is an absolute nightmare here. It does not operate like a regular hotel/lobby. I was given check in instructions to bring my ID and payment card to the front office for check in, there is nobody to show those details to!

On top of that, there are no other instructions given on the email for checkin. So I was having to sit in the parking lot after calling a number that nobody will answer repeatedly.

DO NOT BOOK HERE.

Your experience will be frustrating, the service will be terrible, you’re better off booking at a regular hotel.

This was my first time I here with my family for a nice weekend get away to come and visit my aunt and uncle. This is my first trip of coming to Sooke and we booked a nice house hotel for us to stay in for weekend fun. The rooms were good, tidy, neat. The kitchen was good, the living room was decent. And the sleep was just what the doctor ordered. As for the view, I got the top floor due by the fact I always wanted to see the Ocean sea. And sure enough, the view was everything I was hoping for. As for complaints, there isn't. Get to walk down to the docks to see the sailing boats head off to do some fishing. Did see a seal but that little guy took off before I can take a snap pic. Bottom line, me and my folks enjoyed it and if I was to come back here again. I know where to book and rest my body and soul from my travels here in Sooke ^^

We went crabbing on the docks. It was great! They have a great station for cleaning your crabs before you take them home so you can remove the guts and feed it to the shrimp, seals, orders, and other marine life who will happily eat it 🙂

House quality:
We stayed recently in unit 118. It was a clean and very nice unit.

There are some issues:

ONE There is no AC in this place. It is a lie on google and I have no idea why they have it marked.
99.9% of all homes in BC do not have AC. This is no need for AC for the ocean breeze is cool and if you open the windows you will find it cool enough to sleep, though we didn’t cook a huge amount of food in the home.

TWO the carpet in this place sucks and needs to be replaced. It is stained and my daughter got cut on her palm from a tac board on the floor in the main floor bedroom near the door.

THREE Main floor patio door does not lock and can be easily rattled open. Not Cool guys.

Service Quality:
The receptionist/ booking agent that answers the phone is pleasant and very nice to deal with. Unfortunately, when we spoke to her and asked a quest, “Do you know if there is basement in the unit and could we have access?” She answered Yes and Yes to both questions. After arriving we noted there is no basement at all. Meaning she hasn’t even been in the unit.

Grounds:
One of the best things about renting here is the access you get to a kayak and bike rental service located in the marina. My wife and son had a blast kayaking in the area. The people that we rented from are friendly and knowledgeable. They were kind enough to answer lots of questions and give insight into living here.

Check in:
Check in is the worst I have ever seen. The check-in starts at 4pm and the customer service ends at 4pm.

NO ONE WILL ANSWER A CALL.

There needs to be someone available to be reached by phone at and after 4pm. It is very unprofessional to be running a hotel and have no local staff reachable check-in time.

Our Story:
At 4:26pm we called and got no response to the help number given. We were calling about a pack & play for a child under 2 to sleep in. This is a safety requirement at that age and is not negotiable. After calling around we reached the main office located elsewhere and got the answer that they were unable to help. This put a lot of stress on us, and we had to immediately start looking for other accommodation.
The staff did reach back out afterward via text and delivered the pack and play. Though this is after about 30-50 minutes of silence. By this point we had priced other accommodations and started to repack.
Answering a simple call, early in the day at 4:26pm and giving a timeline would have made a huge difference in our check-in experience. Especially given the issue was based on our young child and their safety.

TLDR:
Overall, this is an okay stay with lots to offer families. With some issues taken care of and policies changed they would be a fantastic place to stay. We stayed during the week which was very quiet. Staff on site are friendly and the amenities are good.
Plus:
- Nice location
- Cool Rentals on site
- Clean enough
- Kitchen
- Parking
Minus:
- Stained Carpet (which caused injury to young kid)
- Staff help and service ends at 4pm
- No AC
- Patio door rattles open. Meaning it does not lock.

For marina, the area is very windy and has strong currents. But it's safe with cameras and a secured gate.

We stayed at Sooke Harbour for one night. The rooms were extremely clean, but I didn't like that you were expected to take out the garbage, especially when the cleaning fee was so high. The hot tub was very hot and we had it to ourselves, but the cover was extremely heavy and difficult to use. Maybe time for the complex to invest in more user friendly hot tub covers.
