I was referred to DG Plus Global Reality by my Ottawa based real estate agent when they learned I was looking to buy a place in Medellin, Colombia where I am planning to retire in 2-3 years. My plan was to buy an investment apartment to rent out as an AirBNB which could pay its own way and also jump start the migration visa process. Not being fluent in Spanish or familiar with some of the nuances of Medellin real estate market, DG Global Plus were a godsend. The process of finding a place and negotiating a deal is quite different than in Canada, not the least of which is the absence of anything similar to the MLS system. I was aware that there are great opportunities, but I had also heard stories of naive investors getting into trouble. I specified my budget, the size of apartment and neighborhoods I was interested in, and a couple of weeks before my trip I received detailed profiles of 10 properties that met my specifications. The morning after I arrived in Medellin, I was picked up by Jose, and we looked at 13 properties over the next 3 days, including the 10 along with 3 others newly available in some of the buildings we visited. His awareness of the questions to ask a d genial demeanour were outstanding taking all stress out of the situation. When we got to our short list, Jose than organized return visits, and was able to objectively give us the pros and cons of each. We then settled on a place and decided to make an offer. Jose and Diego were both of great assistance working with my lawyer and the other agent to come to terms. There are a lot of moving parts in such international transactions, so having an English speaking team by your side with experience was very reassuring. They also seemed to have my interests foremost in mind, and at no time did I feel pressured to proceed with anything I was not fully comfortable with. I am thrilled with how every thing proceeded, and I looked forward to taking ownership of the place next month! For anyone interested in purchasing an investment property or a place to live in the Colombian market, I cannot recommend DG Plus global highly enough.
