As first-time homebuyers, we trusted RE/MAX and Javeed Iqbal to guide us through one of the biggest decisions of our lives, and we deeply regret it. He made big promises and consistently under-delivered.

We were the ones who found the house ourselves, it wasn’t even something he showed us. Yet he didn’t do the research or due diligence we expected from a realtor. He didn’t properly go over the paperwork, rushed us through signing, and didn’t even check or confirm if all the appliances were working. Also, just as an example of the lack of diligence, the basement stove didn’t work at all and was completely unusable. This is something any competent realtor should have checked or at least flagged for us. We later found out that verifying appliances is a basic part of a realtor’s responsibilities and checklist, which makes the lack of attention even more frustrating. As first-time homebuyers, we didn’t know any better.

He also strongly, and repeatedly advised us to omit all pre-inspection and financing conditions from our offer. He told us that including those would make our offer non-competitive and get it instantly rejected. Again, as first-time buyers, we trusted him, but looking back, this was incredibly risky and irresponsible advice. We should have been properly protected, not pushed into a rushed deal.

When it came to the mortgage process, we wanted to try and qualify with an A lender (banks), but Javeed kept encouraging us to go with B and C lenders instead. It felt pushy and sketchy, as if he just wanted the deal done quickly instead of waiting a little longer for a more secure and affordable option. As first-time buyers, this was a major red flag and left us with unnecessary stress and pressure.

Since closing on June 30th, we haven’t heard a single word from him, no check-in, no congratulations, no follow-up. It’s been over a month, and he completely ghosted us the moment he got his commission.

This experience has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. We will never work with this brokerage again and strongly advise others to avoid Javeed Iqbal and this RE/MAX office. This is not how clients, especially first-time buyers, should be treated.

I paid a visit to one of their listings. The agent was everything other than polite. I was being nice the entire time, but he acted like he didn't want to show me the place. He told he had previous tenants from my country (idk how he got my native country right) and he apparently didn't have good experience with them. He told me, "They didn't clean; they brought 200 people to the backyard," and many other "not so good things tenants do" stuff. I just nodded in agreement, and he doubles down and says, "Before I respected peope from country (showed bowing gesture), but now...(weird expression)". I don't know if those stories are true, but just because they weren't nice doesn't mean he gets to generalize that way. He was so condescending and pushy while asking me questions (ig assuming we would create the same problems because we shared the same background with the previous tenants). Then he's like, " If you take this, I will be visiting the place and counting how many shoes you guys have just to make sure how many people are staying." I don't know the legality behind counting shoes but he again says like "but-but previous tenants from your country" again. I wanted to ask more questions but then he opened the entrance door , showed hand gestures to leave. He kept saying, "I'll email you later". He didn't even hear my questions, kept talking over me, and told me to leave, saying, "I have other people visiting this location," but there wasn't another group visiting right after, so he didn't have to do that either. I arrived 5 minutes early as well. Next day I called the agency. They weren't rude btw. I told them everything and asked if I could get a different agent for that property or a different property if not possible. The one who received the call were like "OH im so sorry, that happened to you, i'LL TALK TO THE MANAGER, hang on we'll call you back regarding the issue or find you another place". They hinted they'd call back soon but didn't. In the evening, I called them back, but there was someone else who received the call, and they didn't know what I was talking about, so I had to explain it to them all over again. They too said, "We'll call you back," but they didn't. The next day, too, they didn't give a call or do any follow-up. I needed a property from August but idk if I can trust this place anymore cuz I'm running out of time and they don't give a shit it seems.
