Booked this rental last month. I specifically reserved a hybrid. Called a few days prior and everything was good to go, but when I arrived this morning, no hybrids. But .. the nice staff problem solved and found me a full sized hybrid! I left really happy and am appreciative of their help.
Nice folk, professional and figured it out!

Would have given zero or negative stars if we could but that wasn’t an option.
We booked a car to be picked up at 9am and we were left waiting for a car for more than two hours! We were told that we had to wait for cars to be returned and there was no guarantee that we could even get the car that we booked. This is ridiculous seeing that our booking was approved and accepted several days ago. Whenever someone in line did get their cars ahead, it was after a minimum of 2 hours wait and they had to settle for cars that were not the ones they booked.
This messed up our whole plan and it doesn’t make sense for us to still get a car almost 3 hours later and return it the next morning due to all this time wasted. Overall a disappointing and frustrating experience

I'm disappointed. I come here OFTEN. I love Will, Marilyn, the one guy in the garage (lightskin black man) and the manager (white guy don't know his name). Today I went to pick up my rental (one day rental), I was SHOCKED to see 3 people working at once which is great because normally its only 2. I arrived at 8:50am and it was a line at the door already. I got in quickly and was working with a new person (white woman, but not American background) I'm mentioning this because I know she's new and has NOT been properly trained. I noticed she didn't call for my car but I figured let me not tell her how to do her job. I go to the garage to wait for my car as she told me. I noticed its F'ing 9:30AM and 3 people have gotten their car who were NOT ahead of me! Meanwhile, I told someone (the white guy who collects the cars) around 9:10ish I was waiting on the Civic - he said ok its coming. I finally just walk in the store and ask the new woman if she called for my car. She said yes but she lied and they just called for it in front of me. It was NOT called because I asked someone else in the garage. I like coming to this location because its convenient for me. Please train new employees. LASTLY, see the pictures. This is actually the 2nd time this has happened where the car is filthy. I didn't submit a review last time. The last car I had, had animal hair all on the seat! This car - is just dirty. Come on ya'll clean the cars!!

Just awful service. The woman at the Avis counter did not honor my corporate rate despite showing her my corporate booking. She wanted to charge me $100 for my $38 booking. I lost 1 full hour in this nonsense. Avis sucks and so its employees. Will never rent Avis again. Hertz forever.

False advertising!!! Made reservations on same day and this store and agent Will had the practice of forcing a paid upgrade with such under false advertising, which is completely wrong and unethical. I have rented dozens of times with other companies and I this is the only time instead of doing the right thing for not having the correct car and upgrading at no cost, the agent played games and forced me to pay extra when I could hear on the radio he had the same level I reserved. Made me go outside to look at the car he wanted me to take and if I didn’t, he was going to make me wait 40 minutes once I confronted him that heard that he had the car level I reserved.
On top of that, when I call to report, they had no interest about the issue or the practice, so I guess it’s their way to make extra money, so had no interest about this or in listening about the poor condition this car was, I attach just a few pictures. Clearly this car wasn’t disinfected or cleaned, which is terrible during Covid times.

Worst experence ever. We are elderly Australians and were touring in Canada and the USA for three months. We have rented cars from AVIS a lot of times and were very happy with other rental offices and the customer services in the head office both in USA, Canada and Australia. This time the experence in this place was a really bad one. We booked our 5 weeks rental car 4 months ago, when we came to the office about 8:30 am in the morning, we had a long wait time. Eventually at 10:54am we received the car but inside it was full of dog hairs. However, the worse problem we encountered was the misrepresentation. When we were discussed with the women behind the counter the road toll options, we agreed on a "Pay as you go" basis. She explained to us, we would pay by plate, there would be a photo taken and the toll invoices would be charged to our credit card. As we were talking the agreement printed out and she indicated where we should sign and initial. There was a long queue behind of us, we trusted that the agreement would reflect what we had agreed. During the 5 weeks we had Google map set on " avoid tolls" and paid the very few tolls we came upon using cash and credit card where we could. We believed there would be few, if any, tolls that needed to be paid by plate invoices. However, when we returned the car, we were shocked to discover that there was an additional $501 extra charges. When we questioned what this was for, we were told that it was the E-Toll charge. Then we looked at the agreement which showed: "E-Tolls $21.99 per day Max $439, accepted". We had never discussed this option at the front desk when we took the car. When we raised the issue with the woman who served us, she simply said " you signed the agreement" and curtly called the next customer.
We had to contact the AVIS US customer service after we returned to Australia. At least they responded professionally and efficiently, after we provided evidence of the tolls we had paid. They kindly refunded us the money.
We still could not comprehend what happened at this Washington DC office. But we would like to warn people who are going to deal with this office, to be aware.
