Barb Scott, Realtor Extraordinaire with Schmidt Realty Group Inc., is an Angel walking around on Earth. Without hyperbole, the past year has been the most difficult of my life: my beloved Mom, Lavona, passed away on 12 March 2024 after spending most of the previous two years in and out of hospital. I was forced me to sell Mom's house and buy another place to live in immediately after her passing. Naively, I tried to sell the house on my own, but three suspicious interactions convinced me that I needed a professional's help. Barb came to us recommended by two parties unbeknownst to each other, and she has been a god send. In my entire 61 years on Earth, I have never bought or sold a home, and here I have done both of those things in the past 5-6 months, so it has been a really tough time for me. Barb is the ultimate professional; she communicates clearly, fairly, and forthrightly; she responds to texts, emails, and phone calls in a timely way; she explains things in language that I can understand; she calls me when there is even the smallest technicality to explain it to me and get my permission to proceed; she and her team produced a beautiful video of our family home that we lived in for nearly 47 years, and she gifted my siblings and me with a memory stick of this video; she met in person with my siblings and me, and then she met in person with me a number of times throughout the process of advertising and selling our home; she is compassionate; and she is honest. Everything that Barb said would happen, happened: there were no surprises or glitches whatsoever.

In my work as a lifelong educator, I recently produced a presentation on "Professionalism in the Workplace." The next time I deliver this presentation, I am going to share the stellar example of Barb Scott at Schmidt Realty as one for the ages and THE example to set our sites on in our own commitment to raising the bar on professionalism at work.

From the moment I first met Barb, I had no idea that she was working with or for anybody else because she made me feel like I was her only customer. And what a comfort that has been as I try to settle into my new place and process all that has happened in the last 7 or 8 months. I will always remember and be grateful for Barb's many kindnesses.

Being first time home buyers, we also had very little idea about the process and how to make sure we were buying the right place for us.

I can't imagine having gone through this process without her - Barb's hard work, knowledge, and motivation have been invaluable!

Barb even has training on accessibility standards, which was really useful to have as we realized that we wanted a place that was easily accessible to family and friends with limited mobility.

As part of the LGBTQ+ community, we sometimes face discrimination and Barb was very open to any concerns we expressed and worked with us to make sure we felt safe at every step and that our relationship was not a factor in any negotiations.

Long story short, Barb gave us such a great experience as buyers that I have already referred her to friends and acquaintances who have been looking to buy but haven't found a realtor they clicked with yet. You should definitely contact her if you're thinking of buying or selling a home!
