Stephen and Scott Blair looked after funeral arrangements for my mother, Margaret Kerr. From my first phone call to Scott to my first meeting with Stephen, everything was made easier for me. I had been ill for over three weeks and was deep in the grieving process, but the empathy and kindness I experienced helped so much. Stephen dealt with many details, while following to the letter my dear mother’s wishes including arrangements for my her funeral which was beautiful. Staff are available by phone call, email or text and willing to make any special arrangements. Marla patiently made any changes I wanted to stationary, kind staff on duty at the Visitation made a private room, bathroom, coffee and water available to all the family and even the hearse driver was patient while we visited other family graves after interment.You and your loved ones will be well taken care of during a difficult time by the long established company, Blair and Sons, Smiths Falls.

Calling a funeral home right after a loved one passes feels surreal. I knew it was the first step, but I didn't know what to ask or how to even begin getting the words out. Scott knew. He met us with compassion and understanding; he knew exactly what information we needed to know to get started in this process, and he eased our anxiety along the way. Who knew there was so much paperwork to be processed after someone dies? Certainly not me! They dealt with everything, and it allowed my family and I the time to grieve and focus on being together. We currently have my mom's ashes in their care, and really feel like she is safe there. We were also surprised to learn that they welcome us calling them in however many months it will take us before we travel with her ashes abroad so that we have the paperwork we need. I cannot thank this team enough for the weight they lifted off our shoulders during this difficult time.

I truly can’t give this funeral home a high enough rating. My family has gone through this home for generations, and I truly mean generations. When my grandfather recently passed, I was beyond apprehensive about them taking him into their care as I am extremely anxious about anyone but me taking care of him. I work in healthcare and am extremely cautious as I have always believed I need to be in control of his care to make sure he is properly cared for and loved as he is my person and I need to make sure he is receiving the best possible care, as he deserves it. This home was the only one able to truly ease my worries about him being cared for and loved during his final arrangements and care. They were able to work with me with the utmost care during financial issues and worries to their best and made be feel as if my grandfather was apart of their family. Sabrina, who I had originally spoken with weeks before his passing was compassionate and knew actually what to say to ease my worries, which I admit is not always easy. Steven checked in on the entire family during my grandfather’s wake to ensure the home was providing the best care and service they could and I can’t possibly thank them enough. If you are worried about which home to chose, this is truly the home to make sure your loved one is cared for. This is home for everyone. They truly make sure of it. I see why my family have decided to choose this home for years, and I believe even though I am young I will also choose them as I have never experienced a home so caring as them. My family and I thank everyone involved in my grandfathers care, and I know for certain he would have been more than greatful and happy with the care provided. I truly can’t say enough incredible things about this home. Thank you from the Pepper family, we truly appreciate everything your home has done for us over the years.

DO NOT SIGN A GOD DAMNED THING UNTIL YOU HAVE SHOPPED AROUND.

I can not even believe what an absolute con job these people are.

Sabrina has all the tact, charm and empathy of the ebola virus.

She kept telling us we could ask questions, but got very angry when questions were asked. We remained calm and diplomatic, but this was outside her capacity to reciprocate.

Apparently, she can throw temper tantrums when asked about billing inconsistencies because she worked in Toronto. I didn't see that on their website, but she assured us it was true.

The exact same services at the Perth location were over $2000 less. Not that I would recommend any business affiliated with Blair and son.

They charge a professional services fee that includes no professional services. An individual service fee is added for everything they are supposed to do even if they don't do it.

They didn't use the obituary we sent, but an edited version.

They used the wrong picture and wouldn't change it.

I'll leave it there, but do yourself a favor and just stay away.

*** Addendum: Thank you for responding. We did bring these concerns to Blair and Son. That would've been the opportunity to address our concerns, instead we were belittled and scolded like school children for asking questions. Have a nice day.

Can't say enough good thing about Blair and Son, Stephen, and the entire staff. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accomodating and went above and beyond. The venue was perfect. The audio-visual capabilities were world class. It all made for a perfect celebration for my father in law, gone too soon.

My brother and I used the transport & cremation services at the Smiths falls location this year after our mother passed away. We only wanted the best and Blair and son is it.

Steve Blair and his staff were friendly, compassionate, kind, and professional from start to finish. They handled everything with the sensitivity and ease needed in the difficult area of death. The day we had to come and sign off on documents, select urns, and complete everything was very difficult. But I never felt rushed, prodded, or like it was business as usual. All the logistical items were clear, and they took the time to explain everything in detail. They definitely took our feelings and emotions seriously and that was very much appreciated.

Best Funeral Services showed great respect and care throughout. No hoops to jump through, or multiple calls to make. I highly recommend them.

Our mother Nora Hamilton rested at Blair and Son Funeral home in Smiths Falls September 13 & 14, 2018. We would really like to thank Wayne Kearns and Stephen and Scott Blair for their compassion, sincerity and their assistance in dealing with moms wishes.
