Having never had a negative experience with any landlord or real estate agent before, I can confidently say that the worst experience we’ve ever had was with Buttonwood Property.

After assuring us that all essential maintenance work in the rental property had been completed and giving us the green light to move in, the ceiling collapsed just five days after we moved in—while our one-year-old baby was playing in the living room.

For the first 15 days, we couldn’t use any of the home’s electronic appliances. Cooking a meal was a luxury. On top of all this, their absurd responses, like “try plugging and unplugging it, maybe it will work,” were completely unacceptable. They even claimed that the collapsed ceiling was due to “wear and tear” caused by us—until the ceilings of the other floors also started leaking in the following weeks, at which point they finally decided to take partial responsibility.

When we wanted to terminate the lease and move out, despite never missing a single rent payment regardless of all the problems we faced, they not only kept our rent but also attempted to hold us accountable for the remaining months. I will never forget how they tried to accuse us over the phone, assuming we didn’t know our rights.

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had. This company consists of people who fail to do their job properly, focusing solely on pleasing the property owner—yet even in that regard, they are clearly inadequate in the long run. I sincerely hope no one else has to go through this experience.

They took all my stresses away as a first-time landlord, and the value I've received from their deep expertise has been immeasurable (from finding and placing high quality tenants, to advising on legal obligations and processes, to sourcing trusted partners for home repairs, and liaising with the condo board, etc.). They take care of every last detail for me and my tenant, so I don't have to worry about a thing. I can just look forward to a cheque being deposited into my account every month.

They've also proactively advised me on blind spots that I wouldn't have even known to ask for (e.g. understanding the nuances of insurance coverage, to make sure I am fully protected, etc.). They treat their work as if they are caring for their own unit.

I've since recommended Buttonwood to my family and friends, and they've been thrilled with this team's service too.

I am really grateful I found this company for my rental unit. Hiring Buttonwood is the best decision I made on my real estate investing journey!
