Lacking accountability, not a great agency to be under as a tenant. I would love to say that I have had the experience of most others in this review section but that’s just not the case.

My family and I moved here from Saskatchewan following the loss of our home to a house fire. Not only did Obi and his contractors completely disregard my request for extra privacy as our family has a high special needs son and our family dogs had been extremely traumatized. My dogs especially, have a very hard time with strangers now after being forced out of their home by some. Obi actually did not even have a hand in the tenant selection process, I was given MINIMAL information and photos from a “contractor” by the name of “Selene”, and selene was also very pushy about signing papers. This should have been my first red flag. However we were desperate to find somewhere to live, as we had already been homeless for nearly a month.

Fast forward to move on day, not only are we are in a full blown construction zone (safety risk for our son which we were NEVER made aware of.), but also in the summer we were told that suddenly we were also expected to share a yard with basement tenants (5x10 yard.). Selene had never mentioned the sharing of common spaces, and this was completely unacceptable seeing as I have a special needs son who needs to be kept in close quarters and two very traumatized dogs who require rehabilitation and additional training. I went to Obi to voice my concerns, and to say I wasn’t taken seriously would be a gross understatement. Obi seen no problem with a special needs child living in an active construction zone, nor did he see a problem with the fact that his contractor clearly took advantage of us to fill his vacancy as quickly as possible. We had a few other issues in the home as well, and contacting Obi/getting a timely response on an issue (if you get one at all)…. well good luck! I wasn’t even able to access our utility room to have internet installed because Obi had not provided a solution to the locked basement door.

We asked Obi to provide a solution. Either a rent reduction, or I had also asked if any other units were available that were more private. Obi has ignored my emails since September at this point (it is now october) and no solution has come about. I can hardly give my dogs the life they deserve as there is no privacy, they don’t even have their own backyard to feel comfortable in to be able to train them properly.

Obi and his company were great to deal with initially, other than this one big issue. Obi does not take accountability for the manipulative and misleading actions of their contractors. I gave up on trying to voice my concerns because, simply, Obi did not care to hear my side and did not care to right the wrongs that were made. To this day I actually am still unable to access our basement/utility room because Obi has withheld the door key and code to access the key, and has yet to provide it so that we can properly maintain the homes running systems. Other than this issue I would recommend Candid realty to others, but would really appreciate some type of fix for this problem we have both been dealing with for a while now.

First thing we asked for one big dog and one cat we asked for a third if it was a problem with 3 pets would have only brought two as to the agreement who wouldnt do that. Also who wouldn't put a review on here when this is how we get treated. Yeah we wanted the place and had alot of stuff planned out such as uhaul and everything and just because I put a review on your professionalism you completely disregarded us over asking what color are the cabinets and it was so hard to get answer so yeah I hope alot of people see this review and it reflects on your company because this isn't how people that want a place from you are to be treated and anyone reading this message maybe think twice about this company if you want to be treated the same way I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS OBI very unprofessional at his communication with people and when you got a problem with him he doesn't care and will ignore you at all costs If you can get other townhouses from other company do so NOT HOW YOU RUN A COMPANY
