We stayed at Cape Breton Lake Cottages for a week and had an absolutely lovely visit. The cottage was extremely clean, and it had all the modern conveniences we would expect. Comfortable furniture, AC, fast wifi, and a kitchen that did not lack anything we needed.

The water access is amazing, Lake Ainslie was great to swim in - no weeds. Every evening, one or both of the bald eagles who nest nearby would perch on the tree in front of our cottage to hunt on the lake - an amazing sight!

What we really liked was the easy access to the amazing beach at Inverness - only 15 minutes away. There is plenty of hiking close by as well.

The owners were very responsive to any questions we had, and are two lovely people! I would highly recommend Cape Breton Lake Cottages!

Must visit! If you are looking to visit Cape Breton do not hesitate to stay here! The hosts were so welcoming and had everything set up for us on arrival, including the wood fired hot tub! The cabins are well appointed with everything you would need for your stay, including a full sized fridge, so no need to keep any of your food/drink in a cooler. Linens, towels and blankets were wonderfully fresh and clean, allowing me to snuggle in comfortably. There is a very large deck on every cabin with rocking chairs, which made my morning cup of brew extra enjoyable! There is kayaking, canoeing and even a stand up paddle board to use, including a beautiful seating area by the water! However, the cherry on top was the wood fired hot tub, I have not had the pleasure of this experience at any other cabin accommodation on the island. I’m not a hot tub fan normally, but that’s before I slipped into the quiet, still, warm to your bones luxury that is a wood fired hot tub that the owners reassured me is meticulously cleaned after each stay, and even mid stay if you are staying longer than a weekend. If you haven’t already booked this at the start of my review, stop what you’re doing and book it now!

Loved my stay at Cape Breton Lake Cottages! I stayed in the Birdie cottage and it was so clean, comfortable, and we'll stocked. Watching the eagles hunt for fish while I enjoyed my morning coffee on the deck was the best way to start each day. I loved kayaking on the lake and sitting by the fire at night and a hot tub before bed. What a gem, 10 minutes to Cabot Links! I am planning a trip east with some golf friends and we are all excited to stay with these great hosts and of course their unforgettable pooch Zoe.

Fantastic hospitality from Kirk and Kelley! Beautiful spot on the water, clean, comfortable cabins with everything that you need and absolutely peaceful. The hot tubs are the icing on the cake. We enjoyed the smell of wood smoke and cedar, watching the stars come out on a cool evening. The most relaxing experience you could ask for! Would recommend and will definitely be back.

Have been once a few years back, and thankfully have booked a week this August. My uncle went last summer, I know the cottages are in the exact same immaculate condition, with the same incredible and quick to answer any issue or question hosts, Kelley and Kirk. This is a genuine Cape Breton couple, with deep community roots and an obvious love of the land and culture. The lake, oh the lake! I could talk for hours. Eagles soaring continuously, dipping down to grab a fish, the solitude, the beauty. The peace and quiet, the relaxation, and the Cape Breton ease and relaxed pace.
I will be back every chance I get, and this is where I will stay❤️

The Cape Breton Lake Cottages experience is like a little slice of Heaven. The views are gorgeous and peaceful and serene, and the hosts are the best one could ask for. I stayed in the Anvil for one week and it was all that I hoped for in terms of a relaxing experience. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to hunker down near Inverness and enjoy all of the area has to offer.

Stayed here while golfing at Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs. Amazing responsive hosts, immaculate cabins with a breathtaking lake view. Wood heated hot tubs were delightful after a long day of golf. 100% returning, and recommend for families and anyone who loves nature, peace, and great hospitality.
