Contacted Carey through a recommendation but quickly learned this broker was just interested in a quick sale and wanted to put little to no work into it. Carey was very eager to sell us on 30 year mortgages when we were renewing at 20 years at our current lender, which clearly set off flags for us! When we asked her if we should also reach out to our current lender, Meridian, Carey ensured she could match it and she became very quiet then her responses became short for the rest of the meeting. She told us Meridian would not reach out to us and there was no point us contacting Meridian, as she writes with them and they can’t beat her. After contacting her advising that our current lender reached out to us, and shared with her what they offered on 20 and 25 year mortgages and could she match, Carey’s communication with us abruptly ended. Carey never followed up with us even when our mortgage date was coming up! In my opinion this was very unprofessional and if we had not done our own due diligence, her actions would have screwed us. She definitely tarnished our trust in mortgage brokers and I likely would not use one after this experience and 100% do not recommend signing with her. Thankfully Meridian stepped up and was very knowledgeable and negotiable in their interest rate for existing clients.
