This is the worst property management company I have ever in my life worked with. The owner of the home we rent sold the property in August. The new, out of province owners hired this company to manage the building. They are responsible for letting the tenant know when the sale was complete, who is managing the building now and how to pay rent. They did not do this. After the final closing date we had to call the relator who helped the new owner buy the property. It was the relator who gave us the contact info for Dooryard property. When I called to ask them for an update. The business manager Clair Archer had no idea and said she would sent out a letter once the closing date happened. I told her that happen over a week ago and are still waiting for literally any information at all on how to pay rent and who is managing the property. She said "oh well I guess I will send that letter out today then" Which they hand delivered the day before the last of the month. We also received a letter stating that they would be increasing rent. We decided to give our 1 month notice and leave. Dooryard properties tried to enter our apartment with under 24hours notice via email. When I finally saw the email I panicked as we did not feel comfortable with people entering the apartment without us present. I called them right away to decline. We emptied our apartment and cleaned it as per our lease. They are now threatening to charge us a fee to remove garage from outside because we had a washer and dryer out there. We made arrangement to have the washer and dryer removed by the garbage collection in the area before Oct 1st. Although, Dooryard would not allow this and threatened that if it was not removed by the garbage collection by October 1st, we would be billed. They would not wait for the garbage collection to pick it up, We were worried, so we had to make another separate trip to remove the washer and dryer. Everything was removed before October 1st. They are now telling us they are still going to charge us because there is still garbage there. When we asked where our damage deposit was being held. Clair Archer told us she does not have it, that the old landlord must have it. The old landlord sent us a letter before the closing date stating that our damage deposit was transferred to new property managers. Clair had no idea where our damage deposit is, even though they are the property managers. Do they have it, does the rentalsmen have it? She had no idea and said she did not have it. We are also positive they will unrightfully keep our damage deposit as well. This company has no idea what they are doing, they attempt to infringe on the rights of tenants and are very unprofessional. We have been long term tenants with the old landlord for many years and have an absolutely glowing review from him. When we were tenants there, there was newer tenant who had been written up by the landlord on numerous occasions for making FALSE complaints and for breaking the rules of the building. We believe this tenant is making false accusation about us to these new property managers to make our lives difficult. Now, we are being harassed and treated unfairly by a property management company who is unrightfully trying to charge us and also seems to be keeping our damage deposit from us. It is concerning when a property management company has no idea where your damage deposit is being held.

Absolutely abhorrent service. Refuses to respond to emails, steals as much money from your damage deposit as possible. We were promised a lawn mower to cut our grass during the summers; no mower was provided. I was being bit by bugs at night (our unit and the unit us has issues with spiders). After they sent somebody to deal with whatever was biting me, they told me afterwards that I would be paying out of pocket. They found no traces of bed bugs but then charged our damage deposit “for bringing in bed bugs.” Our unit was “furnished” with extremely cheap and old furniture that broke when our record player was placed on it, breaking a portion of the record player. They charged us $200 for it. They charged us $800 for cat scratches on a couch. Rent anywhere else.

My wife and I had used a larger property management company with poor results for 2 years. Matt came into the picture with high praise from my brother fortunately for us. Over the next 3 years he had been out realtor/property manager and we were very happy with his results. Our house was always kept in great condition with a well kept yard and good tenants. When you can’t watch over things yourself you need to know that someone is on the job and his name is Matt. While we had Dooryard manage our home it was rented without problem, kept up the property and when work needed to be done he coordinated with them happily.
The long and short of it is that our home was looked after for us when we could not be there and Dooryard Property Management came through. The only sad thing is we don’t have any dealings with this guy anymore.

I work with real estate investment buyers and sellers, and if you're a rental owner looking for someone to take care of your property, Matt Hunter is your guy! His price is reasonable and his service is top notch. His calm demeanor and great sense of humour take the edge off the little hiccups that tenants can throw your way.

I rented property from them and they are useless. They will not help if you are facing any problems with the unit. They will not reply to your concerns and start ignoring your concerns.
