My family and I have lived in the Sylvia Ave community for almost three years and although we have never been late on a single payment, never received a notificantion during our lease, we were kicked out from out home for simple company greed.

We were very concerned about the rental situation in the Halifax area, so the months leading up to the renewal period were just a nightmare. We asked the company so many times about the possibility of renewing the lease contract. We saw two of our neighbors moving so we were so worried about not having a place to live (we have two small dogs so it's very difficult to find a dog-friendly place here in the Halifax area. Also, one of our dogs is older old and blind in one eye, so it is very difficult for her to adapt to a new place)

But they decided to ignore most of our emails and calls (special thanks to Mohammed, the guy who took care of this whole process). He passed by our house so many times and never had the decency to speak to us.

After a while we received a notice to vacate the house. No explanation, just telling us to leave.
Remember, two of our neighbors moved away. So we ended up almost begging to rent some of the recently vacated houses.
We tried everything. We also asked to start a new lease on one of the recently vacated homes, offering to pay the full amount they are charging the new tenants (our rent was $1,610 and they are charging the rent amount of $2,450 + $50 pet fee). And they refused. They said they had already approved new tenants for other locations. Of course they knew about our interest in staying there, we asked about it many times, and even then they decided not to give us an answer until the other houses were already rented. So we had no choice but to leave.

We had a very good relationship with our neighbors and the community, but for them it's just a question of money. They don't care about people.
Today was our move-in inspection and we had to hear from the guy that we took great care of the place, but of course that doesn't matter, right? Despite being good tenants, we were kicked out without explanation or opportunity to continue living there.
It's a greedy company, they never give you the chance to have a month to month contract, then after the period is over they will kick you out to rent to someone else for double the price.
You have the chance, rent from another company and never from FH Development.

We purchased a custom build from FH in 2018 in Timberlea. We recently heard of some rodents around our home so we brought a company to inspect for any possible weak spots they could get into the home. We were relived to hear the company’s team say that: "Whoever built your home did a fantastic job!". He told us that the foundation and structure of our home was very tight and well done, and, to our surprise, that a lot of the newer homes in our area are lacking this quality and attention to detail. Moments like these reminds me and my family that we made the right choice by picking the right builder - I am so happy we went with FH!

They are definitely the best in the business and although they build many homes each year, they always made time to discuss my concerns, run through options and provide advice to ensure I receive the best value possible. We purchased a new townhouse from them at Brunello Links. Upon initial glance the house looks great, but the more you look the more their blatant lack of attention to detail becomes evident. Such as:
--Our stair risers are an uneven height, and some of our stairs are not level.
-A third of the landscaping feature their subcontractor put in our yard is on our neighbors lawn.
-They did touch ups with the wrong color of paint.

Our closing of the property was nerve wracking; they didn't clean the garage, utility room, and storage area as they are "unfinished spaces which we don't clean" (including drywall mud covering the concrete), despite nothing to that effect in our contract.
-Their were items on our deficiency list that they refused to address after the property closed and the funds were in their account.
-They placed the extra heat pump head we paid thousands of dollars for in a different location than we selected and did not even tell us.

We are nearing our one year anniversary and they still have not addressed deficiencies from closing. Although there is a pandemic, this is no excuse as they have continued to build numerous homes around us in the area.

They don't care about you or what a home means to you. They have a product that is in demand and its evident they know that. Do yourself a favor and buy a home from a different builder: I sure wish I did.

We purchased a FH Home. After a recent storm we lost a few tiles so got a roofing expert to inspect. They said the roof was the worst they had ever seen and that it needed to be fully replaced. FH wanted to replace a few tiles rather than do the right thing and replace the roof. This is for a home around 5 years of age! We should not have to pay for a new roof ourselves. We expected more concern from the builder for the roofer's poor work.
