Just finished a tenancy board hearing with the string of managers this company uses to distance themselves from responsibility. They shut off the furnace an installed Electric heaters in late January between those two bad blizzards (also our lease clarified oil heat). Caused us hundreds of dollars on our power bill, after already increasing our rent 5% in January.
Property manager we had been dealing with denied they had anything to do with the property as they "passed over management" to a new company. He also never gave us his actual legal name, just a nickname "KP" which made this whole process harder.
Spent 3 months trying to get information from a series of brick walls. "Glasgow Properties Management" became "GK GLOBAL Accommodations and Development", who then hired "Lookout Property Management" (the owner of this company was particularly.... Creepy)
Went without heat for three months due to the shoddy installation. Went without water because the management didn't pay utilities. And as an extra level of nonsense, every month now they change the address for us to send rent to hoping we'll slip up.
Each company was rude, threatening and uncaring about the position they put tenants in.
Thankfully they were so blatant in their disregard for this provinces laws that the Tenancy Officer ruled in our favour, but since then there's been a vibe like they want to find a way to get us out.
Renting didn't used to be this wild, but for those in the same boat, the registered joint stock company site was a lifesaver, helped me find out the managers real name, and the name of the actual property owner

TLDR; Pretty much the same zero effort wealth extraction setup that you see all too often now.
Hopefully we get registry and enforcement laws for landlords in Nova Scotia so people like this can stop acting like feudal lords
