I would absolutely not recommend this company. My husband and I had them manage our rental for 7 years from 2017 to 2024. Initially, we were satisfied with their services but the last tenants they got for us totally destroyed our home and this company took no responsibility for the state of our property for which they were supposed to be doing inspections every 6 months. The tenants tore off the rain gutters which led to water infiltration in the basement; we had to gut the basement since the floors were so significantly water damaged. The floor in the master bedroom had water damage and mold on walls from what we think was an aquarium leaking. The window in the main bedroom would not close after tenants had air conditioning unit in it and they never reported it and spent the winter with plastic taped over the window...how did HQH not see this in their "inspection"?!!! The bathroom was full of mold and the shower walls had been smashed in; there was no way the bathroom could have gotten in that state with only a family of 4 living there. Neighbours have reported to us multiple food delivery service companies coming to the house many evenings. The front and back doors both had significant damage to them. All the walls in the house were riddled with holes, like someone took a shotgun to them. All of this, HQH called "normal wear and tear" !!! Our brother has lived in his apartment 10 years with his family and there is nowhere near this level of damage. When the tenants left, they took all the light bulbs, the smoke detectors and some thermostats. It was ridiculous. HQH absolved itself of any and all responsibility and was not even going to give us the damage deposit. We will never deal with them again. They totally failed us in their duty of care.

I have had the best experience with Halifax Quality Homes. Sue was absolutely wonderful and professional. Donna was very sweet as well, and always responded back fast. The entire application and rental process was quick and stress-free. I am very grateful to HQH as I now live in a place which I just adore!

Shocked at the blatant dishonesty!
I did a virtual showing with HQH this week for a property (I’m currently located in Alberta). The rental agent, Sue, spoke to me as if we had the property. Our application was submitted, and at our virtual viewing I told her we were very excited about the property and wanted to move forward. I thought and was led to believe it was a done deal. All of a sudden this morning it’s already rented to someone else What Now we are scrambling to find a new place to live in NS before we move across the country in less than a month (with a toddler!)
We are moving back to the east coast where we thought people were more honest, but reading the other reviews I guess I shouldn’t have bothered with this company anyway. I won’t be asking them for their other available rentals - we will go somewhere else.

Even though i did not rent a place through HQH I have had the best experience with them. Annetta was absolutely wonderful and professional. Donna was very sweet and coordinated for the application process; it went smoothly. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a rental property in halifax.

I would never, repeat never rent from HQH’s ever again or recommend them. After living there for 3 years and never having one complaint I have been asked to leave in the middle of the winter. The property manager DM has been crotchety and very rude and unprofessional since I moved. The maintenance people were absolutely amazing. During my out inspection, the property manager told me that they needed to get the entire place cleaned because she seen finger prints and marks on the wall. Can someone please confirm whether finger prints/marks on wall show that a place has been lived in? I have respected these owners home as if it was my own and really struggled to find another home that I could settle into for the holidays. For a property manager to come at me for a few marks on the wall was totally not called for. I have struggled with this property manager for the entire 3 years that I have lived there. Started with her not wanting to have a technician come check the thermostats that weren’t working when I was paying $1000 per month to heat the place to her asking the maintenance men to make me pay for every single thing needed to ensure the house was kept up. I am sure that there are many wonderful staff at this organization or the company would not still be up and going but as the saying goes one bad apple can spoil the cart. I recommend you look elsewhere when looking to rent.

This company is an absolute joke. They take weeks to process applications and zero sense of urgency whatsoever and get annoyed when you call them for an update. I've never seen such a joke of a company. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

We contacted Quality Homes for an apartment and they showed us the place and everything was almost final, only the lease signing was waiting to be done. All of a sudden, we get an email from the company that the owner will no longer rent the unit. We submitted our notice to our existing landlord and have to beg them to cancel our notice as we didn't get the apartment. Even after this, I called the building manager who was handling our viewings for a new apartment and to help us get another apartment. She never answered my call neither called me back. And now I see online that the apartment that we were declined is rented. So either the owner or the company lied about the reason they gave us that THE OWNER WILL NOT RENT THE UNIT NOW was completely a lie because the website clearly shows that it is now rented. The company or the owner didn't have the minimum etiquette to give us a call for wasting our time which we put on this, let alone forget about the emotional damage they did to us as we were very happy and looking forward to move to that place. Though the company wrote sorry to me with the only email they sent to me when informing about the news.
I was thinking of getting another apartment from Quality Homes but now I wont because they are not professionals and doesn't have minimum courtesy and sensitivity.

I have been using Halifax Quality Homes to manage my property for almost 5 years. As I live abroad, I sometimes need a lot of support. They have been extremely reliable and professional and have gone out of their way to help me. Even with a 7 hour time difference, they always responded to any questions I have in a timely way. They have an excellent network of contractors and professionals to help undertake any work needed on my condo. They have always secured excellent tenants for me and kept me informed throughout the rental process. I wouldn't go anywhere else for property management!
