I am deeply disappointed with the service I received from Marie Latif at Home 2 Home Properties. I would NOT recommend using her company for property management.

In 2022, I bought a townhome in LaSalle but had to move out of town after living there for only 2-3 months. I hired Marie to rent and manage my property, expecting professional and efficient service. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory.

Firstly, it took her an unreasonably long time to find a tenant. Every time I contacted Marie, she claimed to be too busy to show the property to prospective tenants. This lack of availability was frustrating and unprofessional.

Marie also mentioned that she could only list two properties at a time because she used a free account on the advertisement website. This limitation severely hindered the visibility of my property.

When she finally found a tenant, she did not conduct any tenant screening. She failed to check their credit score, employment status, or speak to their previous landlords. When I questioned her about this, she admitted that she knew the tenants had poor credit and unstable jobs, arguing that if they were financially stable, they would buy a house instead of renting. This was a shocking and unacceptable justification.

The tenants short-paid the second month's rent and occasionally missed payments. Marie advised me that it would cost thousands of dollars to evict them and suggested I accept whatever they were paying. This advice was disheartening and unhelpful.

Luckily the tenants left without completing their term. I found the next tenants myself, however, Marie still charged me the finders fee.

Marie had assured me that she would consult me before any major repairs. However, she went ahead with costly repairs without my approval and billed me for thousands of dollars. When I requested the contractor's invoices, she often provided documents with incorrect property addresses.

On several occasions, Marie paid contractors for the service they did not provide. When I inquired about incorrect payments, she admitted her mistake but said the contractors refused to refund the extra payments. Despite this, she continued to use the same contractors, raising concerns about her management practices.

Marie also deducted the rent a couple of times this year. When I asked the reason for the deduction, she said, "I paid you extra in 2023 by mistake, therefore I have deducted it from this month's rent." She did this a couple of times this year but could not provide proof of the extra payment.

Eventually, I decided that enough was enough and informed her that I no longer wanted her to manage my property. She claimed that the agreement had automatically renewed and could not be canceled until July 2025. This was the final straw in an already frustrating experience.

I could add a lot more, but then my review would be very long. I know Marie will likely respond by saying I'm not her customer, which is her usual response to negative feedback.

Overall, my experience with Marie and Home 2 Home Properties was extremely disappointing. The lack of professionalism, poor communication, and questionable management practices have led me to strongly advise against using their services.

Dealing with Marie Latif was traumatizing to say the least. The negative reviews about her are sadly true. She is extremely unprofessional, dishonest and unfortunately racist. I’ve never dealt with a “professional” who is as unhinged as Marie Latif. There’s not much better than these subpar property management companies in Windsor…so if you’re dealing with her, ensure you keep written records and know a little about tenancy/contract law in Ontario as she has and will lie and try to cheat you if it suits her!
