I found a beautiful house on JDE website, sent a formal application, and requested a viewing during my exploratory visit. They couldn’t accommodate me and mentioned they would arrange a virtual visit the following week. I went ahead to visit the neighborhood and get a sense of the actual house before leaving Halifax.

After some confusion on their end, they sent me the invitation link for the viewing. The day before, an automatic reminder sent me an email reminder to show up for the viewing, which I confirmed.

On the 25th of June, 5 minutes before the agreed time, I was online waiting for them. No one showed up. I sent 3 emails requesting an update, called them 3 times as well, no one picked up. After 20 minutes I hanged up.

This morning on June 26th, I checked my emails around 11.15 am Halifax time. No email from them, no call returned, no text message. i called again 3 times, they didn’t pick up. I sent another email requesting a request, and this was their answer :

"Hi Abdoul,

My apologies for the delayed response. Unfortunately we were short staffed during the viewing yesterday and was not able to accommodate your virtual viewing due to the amount of people who showed up in person. We are processing applications this week and expect to select someone from them."

Did I mention I sent a complete application with a Manager job salary, recommendation letter, references and everything else (including the fact that I am a CPA and MBA holder)? They didn’t even consider it. They are going to choose among the other people. Honestly I can’t help but feel discriminated against. As a newcomer, and as a black person. From the beginning of this, they never replied to any of my emails while they are praised for their effective communication in these reviews.

This is not professional at any level. This is not the Canada that inspired me to live my family here. It is a disgrace. I am debating if I should consult a legal professional to assess this prejudice.

He provides information in advance and provides all paperwork in the timeframes required. Would definitely recommend him and his team for all your property management needs.

I highly recommend JDE Property Management services. I recently moved to Halifax from a different province. Initially, I was trying to rent a place by using the typical Internet websites, which was a difficult task being faraway as I was not able to get immediate answers to some of my requests; the process was moving very slowly. When I started using the JDE relocation services, I immediately noticed a great difference. They were able to more easily contact places, visit them, do virtual showings, and track all information. I was able not only to find a place but to have prompt assistance and help to secure it even during the holidays and late hours (due to time difference). They took care of most things (inclusively check list review) before our arrival.
