When we first decided to build in North Cowichan, we met with multiple contractors and were thoroughly impressed with K2. Peter’s communication from start to finish was unrivaled. After moving to the Valley from Victoria, it became very apparent to us how highly regarded K2 is within this community. Our project was delayed due to permitting issues with the Agricultural Land Commission but K2 was able to work with our ever changing timeline and deliver our carriage house in a very timely manner (and right on budget!).

We appreciated the professionalism, knowledge, and guidance from both Peter and Rick. We genuinely enjoyed getting to know them and felt they alleviated a lot of our stress surrounding building a home. The quality of work that Jay (as well as the rest of the crews) delivers is spectacular. We also valued the user-friendly software that they use to communicate with and track expenses and selections.

The entire crew is meticulous, noticing very minor flaws that would have gone undetected by us and fixing them immediately. They even repaired some minor damage that was done by our moving company.

Selecting a builder for our first home was an intimidating process, and we are so glad we chose K2. We were really impressed with Peter, Jared, Rick and the entire K2 team. They are genuine people, who are passionate about their quality of work, and their clients experience.

K2 was a great company to work with on the construction of our first home. Peter and the K2 team were responsive from the initial site visit through to after key hand over day. They took the time to go through any issues that may have arose and used their extensive knowledge to offer solutions.

The use of their project platform allows you to see the breakdown of every aspect of the project and see exactly where you are investing your money. This keeps the budgeting process fully transparent and was beneficial while working with K2 to stay on budget.

We have now been in our home for over a year and we could not be happier with the final product. We really appreciate the effort the entire K2 team put into the craftsmanship and experience. They made what could have been a very stressful process so enjoyable. Their level of professionalism and ongoing customer service is exceptional. This is the 2nd home K2 has built for us and there is a reason for that, they are simply the best at what they do, they take building a home to a whole new level, not only do they take you through step by step with the project but they are so prepared they rarely encounter issues as the process is so well laid out,, the crew is amazing and the level of craftsmanship is off the chart.

Working with K2 for our first home build was an incredibly wise decision. The team, consisting of Peter, Jared, Rick, and Jay, demonstrated an impressive level of knowledge and experience. Their expertise allowed them to suggest minor modifications that had a significant impact on the final outcome, all while staying within our budget.

One of the standout aspects of K2 is their collaboration with local tradespeople, who were all fantastic to work with. This ensured a smooth and efficient process throughout the construction.

K2's use of interactive software to manage communication, budgeting, estimates, updates, and files was truly remarkable. The user-friendly interface provided reassurance and made it easy to stay informed about the progress. The regular updates and photos of the construction progress were particularly enjoyable.

Despite logistical challenges preventing us from visiting the site regularly, Peter made sure we were consistently updated and arranged site meetings accordingly. This level of attention to detail and communication was highly appreciated.

Most impressively, our house was delivered on time and under budget. This level of service is rare to find among builders, and it further solidifies our satisfaction with K2.

We are very pleased to recommend K2 for your building project.

Before signing on with K2, we interviewed 5 different contractors. We selected K2 for 2 main reasons: (1) They spent a great deal of time with us before we signed, asking very detailed questions and offering specific examples and prices of products and finishes about our expectations for our house before they prepared a quote for us. This increased our confidence that we could stay within our budget. (2) As others have mentioned, K2 uses a really excellent, secure, on-line program to outline and document stages of the project. It was also the prime method of communication between us and K2. If we logged on and asked a question or made a request, we consistently received very prompt responses. The program also included budgeting info, progress reports, photos and more. As promised, they were extremely responsive to any and all questions and requests for changes -- and since we lived right beside the build from excavation to completion, we had a lot of them.

Both the process and the end result confirmed for us that we made the right choice. Our house was delivered on time and on budget, and we love the finished product. Peter and Jared, who own the company, and Rick, our go-to guy after the framing phase was completed were all great to work with -- no question, concern or change request seemed to faze them, even if it meant absorbing some costs, and all requests were dealt with very quickly and efficiently. Given it was our first new build, our experience was very positive -- we found the K2 team trustworthy, reliant, skilled and very easy to work with.

We interviewed several builders and ultimately settled on K2 due to their responsive communication to us, as well as their reputation for integrity and reliability. We were not disappointed. Seeing the house come to life was very exciting. The K2 crew all seem to love their jobs and have an easy camaraderie that has been built over years. The crew are friendly, easy going, humor filled people that are simply a great group to work with. Of equal importance they are extremely skilled craftsmen. They carefully analyze situations and use their extensive experience and community of resources to create solutions and support decision making along the way. The sub trades that they work with share the same customer satisfaction goals and commitment to quality. It spoke volumes to us to know these people have collaborated with K2 for years, sometimes decades, by choice. We felt that our wants and needs were important to them all. Everyone took whatever time was needed (a lot), to explain things, reassure and collaborate. Jared and Rick, as team leads, were extremely innovative in creating solutions and unique touches. They also had a firm grip on the schedule for all parties involved. Jay was always willing to do anything for us and to make us smile. Peter went to great lengths to manage expectations and was respectful of our budget. He tried to hold us accountable to it with our choices and provided ideas on cost savings when unexpected expenses were incurred and pricing of products or services inflated. Communication with the team was timely and thorough. They walked us through the process, keeping us apprised of what was happening and what was required of us, or others, via text, phone and through their team communication/ management tool. Thanks to each and every member of the K2 extended team that made the often exhausting and stressful job of building, almost always fun. We have lived in our new house for almost five months now. The house has withstood significant storms and the energy of an active dog friendly family extremely well. We have very few minor tweaks to do and everywhere we look it feels like home. Thank you.
