Do yourself a favour and do not rent a unit if this company is in charge. We moved into a completely renovated unit and before moving in I inquired about the inspection, no response about who does the inspection only to later find out it’s the account manager who does the inspection who has little to no qualifications to be inspecting an apartment. When we arrived to the apartment our back patio door handle was not even put on properly and was practically falling off, our back door to our unit was also missing the door latch plate (which if someone tried to break in they would be able to with enough force), the front door to the entire building was cracked, radiator pipe covers were dangling on the pipes and not screwed in, a shelving unit in our entry way was not screwed in, removal of previous tenants items from the deck were not removed even though it was CONFIRMED everything would be removed and a curtain rod was installed in the kitchen that prevented us from using our cabinets. Furthermore here is a list of issues that have occurred with little to no resolution and if there was a resolution it was because of my partner and I’s persistence, otherwise they would have went unnoticed, and these are only some of the problems there are many more not listed.
1. I arrive at the office to pick up our second key to find a male employee who has no idea what I’m talking about. Then when I explain what keys I’m picking up he does not even know which are the right keys to our specific unit, luckily I had a photo and show it to him and he says to me the extra key is not here and the contractor actually has it. Later I find out the contractor entered our apartment without our knowledge at 7am - unacceptable as this was not the time frame agreed on.
2.A/C units were newly installed. Account manager had no idea they weren’t FULLY installed until I made her aware of it – again not communicated to us on move in. I reached out in March and she said they will be fully installed at a later date around mid-April. April passes and there is radio silence, in May we have to reach out to the account manager to sort out installation. End of May the HVAC tech comes and sets up the A/C, my partner and I are relieve and hopeful that this is the end of our issues but shockingly enough, its not. The A/C units then start leaking inside all over the walls and on the floors.
3.Heating in the stairway to our unit in the front and back door are left on 24/7 and they are BLASTING hot. The temperature in our apartment has reached over 30 degree Celsius and no one at this company seems to care. I don’t know ANYONE who runs their heat that high in the summer but we have been asking to sort this out since March and the heat still blasts and it is June now. The temperatures in the stairwell get to 35 degrees Celsius and I can only assume in the summer it will get hotter. Every time we ask about this our account manager just gives us a run around. Maybe the actual account managers should come to the apartments to see the actual problem, because clearly they aren’t getting the idea.
I’m really disappointed with how this property management company has conducted themselves which is a shame because I really like our apartment. It’s also a shame because our account manager is professional and kind but the lack of urgency and common sense at this point has become unbearable. We pay a hefty amount for our apartment and I expect with the price we are paying for things to be done in a timely manner which they are not, I also was not expecting a half-assed job on the renovations. It’s also unacceptable that we are paying this premium price for our apartment and cannot use certain items that are listed on our lease, for all the problems we’ve had the least they could have done was offer a rent reduction for one month
