Update: 5 home inspections later and we've finally hit our jackpot. The next time we contact Paul it will be as home-owners! Over the course of our experiences together, we've had Paul inspect 5 properties and the numbers don't lie. We've spent over 3000$ for inspections, but in doing so were able to walk away/save more than 300 000$ in repairs and maintenance.

If you're asking yourself "is this really worth it?", YES! I'd go so far as to get the thermal imaging as well. We've had a few instances where those images showed us costly repairs in hiding. At the end of the day, you'll have a complete picture of your purchase, and the ball is in your court as to what to do. Are there 'more affordable' options? Sure. Are they as thorough? I can't say. Would you risk a multi-hundreds of thousands of dollars investment over a hundred bucks? I wouldn't.
