Avoid Northpoint Property at All Costs

Northpoint Property in Halifax is by far one of the most irresponsible and unprofessional rental companies I’ve encountered. They rent out old, overpriced apartments that are in terrible condition. The units are infested with mice and cockroaches, and management does absolutely nothing about it — even after multiple complaints.

The living conditions are not just unpleasant, they are downright unsafe and unhealthy. Mold, broken appliances, drafty windows, and poor insulation are just the beginning. It’s clear the company prioritizes profit over people, completely neglecting the basic rights and wellbeing of their tenants.

Their communication is abysmal — emails go unanswered for weeks, and any attempt to hold them accountable is met with silence or deflection. It’s shocking that a company operating in 2025 can get away with this level of negligence.

Do yourself a favor and stay far away from Northpoint. Halifax has many better landlords and property managers — this one is a nightmare.

I've been renting from Northpoint for about 4 years. Couldn't see myself renting elsewhere - Northpoint is extremely quick with maintenance. My stove broke and within a day I had a new one. They renovated my kitchen entirely and didn't charge for it or increase the rent. They respond quickly to emails and the staff are incredibly kind! Never had any sort of problem with bugs or mice as they keep the properties clean!! I could go on 🙂

Partner and I had a terrible experience viewing a property with Northpoint. Property manager showed up late, didn't apologise or introduce himself. Apartment had a foul, appalling stench and it was clear he hadn't checked the unit before our viewing. He didn't seem to have a care in the world. It was disappointing, especially since we took the time to complete an application.

I lived in a unit near my university for two years and had no issues. Everything worked perfectly. Northpoint was exceptionally helpful with the leasing process, especially since it was my first time renting. The staff were quick to respond to my emails and provided all the information I requested. The location was great, the neighbors were respectful, and the unit was clean with no problems or pests. Northpoint guided me through every step and explained everything clearly. Their service was excellent, and I’m very grateful for their support and kindness. If the opportunity arises in the future, I would definitely consider renting from them again.

I moved from Ontario to Halifax and the staff at Northpoint made the move very easy for me. They were prompt in replying to myself and available to answer all my questions. They also take care of the residence very well. Would recommend 10/10.

Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this greedy, exploitative corporation at all costs. Their practices are nothing short of disgusting, and they are solely motivated by a thirst for profit, disregarding the well-being of both their customers and employees. Trust me, you'll save yourself a lot of frustration in the long run.

I wish I could give them zero stars. Avoid this landlord at all costs. I had a terrible experience after a one-year lease with them, despite never missing a rent payment.

1.Racism: The building management staff never acknowledged my family, while they greeted others. Additionally, one staff member showed blatant disrespect toward my wife.
2.Poor Maintenance: The parking area is dirty, with puddles of water, and the laundry room is in the same state. The stairwell door is extremely noisy and squeaky, like something out of a haunted house, and it was never repaired. Broken windows were never fixed, and they are extremely noisy in windy conditions.
3.Disrespect for Privacy and Lack of Humanity: They frequently disturbed our family with unreasonable inspections, checks, and filming. In the last three weeks of our lease, they demanded access to our apartment for pre-move maintenance for up to 8 hours a day. They didn’t consider where our family was supposed to stay during that time. Their behavior was extremely inconsiderate.
4.Bed Bugs: We encountered bed bugs for the first time in our lives, and they blamed us for bringing them in. Later, we discovered that other apartments in the building had bed bugs as well.

Meet the want to be slumloards of Halifax, the office staff at northpoint is nothing but a joke. Maintenance is done without a care or fallow up to see if it worked (had a door repaired with cardboard as a shim and a hot water valve for heat left broken). Want to move out be careful because you could be looking at a full renovation happening as you’re trying to move. Without a care of how you will live around them. Don’t try to call them out on anything cause all the office staff knows how to do is lie. Also the office does not exist for the tenants so everything is to be done over the “office” phone or via email.
That being said, maintenance staff is pretty chill, which is good cause you’ll see them often if your not handy, Glen is an amazing superintendent, and for the most part it’s a good bang for your buck rental company
