The good:
- I relocated from Ontario to Red Deer by car and was stuck in hotels/motels for about 2 weeks. Rick made the checks very fast and smooth when I needed it and got back to me in a day or two, I believe. I did still have to wait a few days to get access to the unit because they were doing basic renovation (mostly stuff I don’t care about like painting, appreciate the cleaning though)
- When I stupidly threw out my laundry card by accident because I was burnt out from work, Marie gave me a replacement at no charge
- Rick, Marie and the previous maintenance person who was here at the time I moved were courteous and patient
- Despite being in the Pines area, haven’t noticed any property theft in my car, though someone did apparently use my electric plugin to heat their car in the winter and it took me a while to realize that I was being billed for that electricity (or at least I think so, looking at the much higher bill)

The bad:
- Maintenance requests generally don’t get fulfilled. One hint was that I was told that things wouldn’t get repaired because they never bothered to buy the supplies for it. There are certain things that any sane landlord would fix just to avoid leaks or other issues with the property such significant cracked/missing grout in floor bathroom tiles. The maintenance person at the time just put some silicon caulk in there when I was persistent; he told me that he hasn’t been provided with grout to fix it. When they added a mesh screen in my bedroom window it seemed like the window could not fully close after, leading to cold air coming in when it’s -37 and lots of boxelder bugs entering through that gap in the summer. I have other open requests for several months that no one has contacted me about, so I stopped making maintenance requests a long time ago.
- As I alluded to, there is a crazy amount of boxelder bugs in my riser and the one next to it. I bet these bugs are feasting on the maple tree nearby. The only real solution is to get rid of their food source. I literally vacuumed around 40 just today (which is one of the all-time worsts so far). Whenever it’s sunny and 24 Celsius or higher, these things will be mating like crazy and you’ll be seeing it all over your windows/back door if you are in one of the nearby units (I think the ones far away from the tree are ok). I wasn’t planning on buying a vacuum until I purchased a house but just because of these boxelder bugs I took some time off work last year to get the vacuum and start sucking them up. You will see them peak at the times the sun is hitting your balcony which is around 12 am – 4pm here. I have videos and photos to back this up. They hide away and don’t mate as much when it gets colder, so you’ll probably really be annoyed by them during heat waves between August and October. You won't want to open the balcony door in the summer on the hot days or bedroom window because you'll likely get a few coming in. Since I have been working from home I've been fortunate to be able to work without need to use my camera so I opt-ed for not having a shirt on during the summer.
- Each unit has its own heater but it’s outside in a room accessed from the balcony. You must get accustomed to using the thermostat because the temperature in the heater room will vary from the house and it takes time to get used to (if you set it to 10 Celsius when it’s -37 outside vs 5 it will be a noticeable difference in heat on the inside. It also means that you will have a higher bill when you don’t notice dramatic changes in the external temperature.

Summary: Though the staff are polite and courteous, I would only recommend renting here if you have some pet frogs (to eat the boxelder bugs in the summer) or if you are desperate to find a rental like I was, or you have ensured that your suite is good though someone living there.

For quite a long time, my family is comfortable living in taylor heights apartments and now in parke ave square, but since November 2023, that we have this neighbors upstairs who are very inconsiderate. Day and night their footsteps really annoy us, their loud music and the smell of their food lingers anywhere. We’re trying to respect every diverse culture in the community, but i think they wouldn’t even bother to think they have neighbors who are as busy as they are, and wants to take a good rest at home

Beautiful renovated large apartments. We live in a 3 bedroom 2 bath. Allows pets so we didn’t have to give up our fur baby. Very warm and friendly staff. Security of tenants is a priority. Great experience lived there for 2 years.

The management of this building makes this a great facility, and Marie especially goes above and beyond. The buildings are clean and well maintained. But keep in mind that it’s low-cost housing. I still can’t get the cigarette smell out of my apartment from the previous tenants.

Marie is always very attentive to her tenants, the buildings are kept clean and the staff are very friendly! She is very accommodating to us here. The rent is appropriate to the units, and a lot of them are recently renovated!
