I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF I COULD. I visited the Skylark presentation centre on September 8, 2024 where I received ZERO SERVICE from the sales staff.

No one greeted or provided me with any information about the development. I was not offered a tour of the show room or provided with any information about pricing or the layouts even though there were clearly staff available. They would rather stand around doing nothing than provide me with simple customer service.

I felt discriminated based on my appearance as I appear young. They clearly cater to the Asian demographic they assume will buy multiple units with cash.

Polygon should do a better job in education their staff because you never know who might be able to make a purchase based on appearances. I would recommend everyone I know against purchasing from Polygon. I can’t imagine the poor quality of their builds if they can’t even provide basic customer service.

Month 5 update
-Garbage room ceiling+parkade walls leaking after rain
-Elevator still constantly down, slow + bouncy when approaching floors.
-Outside staircase have algae due to improper drainage

Overall, I have become even more disappointed in Polygon.

Not fixing things in a timely manner has increased consequences later on,when Polygon is no longer required to fix it. Eg. garbage room ceiling leaking from rain will continue to worsen. Even if Polygon fixes it eventually, it doesn’t erase the harm caused by the delay itself, as the long term consequences are already set into motion. By then it will be owners who have to deal w/issues that stemmed from Polygon’s delay.

No improvement in Polygon’s customer service. Still continues to give ppl the runaround.

Eg, patio door handle slams into the glass window due to no hinge/door stopper. Several people brought it up w/Polygon who insisted it is not an issue, not a design flaw. It wasn’t until at the AGM where multiple VPs were present + an owner did a speech, did they agree to revisit+eventually fix it.The average person will agree it’s an issue,to be fixed by Polygon, regardless of whether the design plans have a flaw. Glass shatters!

I was excited for this build. My family, friends+coworkers all ask me how is my new place. I tell them all of this, which is the truth. They are shocked+asks who the developer is, so they can avoid them. When I say Polygon, they are even more shocked: ‘but aren’t they one of the better ones?’. I reply, ‘right? That’s why I risked getting a pre-sale’. They check in w/me to get updates on the issues because they are curious on how long it takes. The issues listed are for common areas. There are still issues in my unit they are refusing to address.

Again, not expecting perfection. Just expecting common sense issues that shouldn’t even exist in the first place, be resolved in a timely manner so I don’t have to pour continuous time + energy

I’m so tired. Will update when my unit’s common sense issues are resolved - so come back to check on how long it takes 🫠

On the OG Cardinal review Polygon said to email them. I have never NOT been in touch w/customer service. It’s the same email. 4 months since the 1st review-are you saying if I reached out to say I wrote the review, then my previous emails+common sense issues would be taken more seriously, since this is a public review? 😬

I’m easy to ID if you check which unit reported common sense issues

Cons
-Mice in building but didn’t tell us
-Paint peeling from walls due to humidity tho ventilation fan on 24/7
-Numerous deficiencies that were very apparent +directly affects whether the building is inhabitable; deficiencies flagged by Polygon themselves prior to closing were completely forgotten
-Parkade intercom poorly located, causing several vehicles to hit surrounding walls
-Garbage room ceiling leaks after light rain
-Elevators often down, trapping ppl +making moving in difficult; occasionally moving in opposite direction of requested floor
-Internet fibre wiring is a mess, per Telus technician after on-site inspection
-Ppl from Polygon telling us different things on how to maintain our units+inconsistency on whether warranty would be void if we followed Polygon’s own recommendations
-Polygon is slow to respond to important inquiries, leading to minor issues becoming major problems
-Polygon giving us the runaround, shirking issues that are under the developer’s scope + not the owner/strata/city

Lack of due care shows in the craftsmanship + when liaising w/Polygon. Everyone knows buying pre-sales are risky, but I chose Polygon because they have been known for being one of the more reliable developers.

I’m not expecting perfection - I know with pre-sales + the financial environment often it’s the bare minimum required to pass inspection. However, I do think there is still room in there to show you take pride in your work + your job by demonstrating due care, and unfortunately I do not see that at all. I am disappointed with my experience with Polygon.

Absolute garbage construction. My townhouse has been nothing but disappointment and headaches. Yes, the staff are friendly and accomodating. When youre forking over $1M, that seems like the least they could do. Build quality is very poor, attention to detail is zero and quality control non-existent. Shockingly bad for a ‘reputable’ company that has been doing this for 40 years. One star is a gift.

The staff are amazing here! Especially Sandra, she answered all of our many questions to help make our decision to purchasing our new home. They were accommodating to some requests we had and we are super grateful. Highly recommend Polygon to everyone, they are amazing and their homes are high quality! We are so excited to move.

Bought into their development because of past reputation, now kind of regretted how our first home has brought us so much grief before and after we've moved in.

We bought the Midori in Burnaby some years ago at the pre-sale. The construction was delayed only by a month. We took possession and realized that the floor is not leveled and extremely uneven. Some areas exhibit a 1/2" drop over 3 feet, a drop you'd feel when you walk around. Some areas shows a dip of 1/4" in the form of a bouncy soft spot. All these are considered "within tolerance" according to the Polygon rep who attempted to de-escalate. We fought tooth and nail and Polygon finally agreed to repair it. After 2 weeks of hounding the subcontractors to make sure they do their job, and a bush hammer session (like jack hammer) that shook the building, the floor is still not within the flooring companies tolerance (no more than 1/8" rise or dip over 10 feet) 2 weeks of repair work and the newly repaired floor now has other soft spots.

List of other issues:
1. Water damaged cabinetry under the sink. Concealed and no sub brought it up, even when they were in to replace the sink. Who knows what else was water-damaged?

2. Electric heater turning itself off. (thermostat calibration issue) It's going to be a cold winter. Some units found their electrical is not grounded at all. Definitely against code.

3. Countertop showing discoloration of in the shape a bucket. Someone placed their bucket of something on it.

4. Brand new low-quality Whirlpool top / down dryer/washer shows 2 small rusted holes! Screw left in the washer and it tore some threads in our new curtains. We don't have a working washer / dryer right now in fear of breaking it more. (don't know where that screw came from) The washer also pulls thread from my good shirts.

5. Ugly fabric vertical blinds that no developers use anymore and gets dirty if you look at it the wrong way. I look out the window, and everyone else is using roll-down blinds.

6. Fresh stain on the carpet before we moved in! Paint splatter on common area carpet from not covering it up during paint jobs!

7. Scratch on marble floor! Who in the right mind would use a soft stone like marble for common area?

8. Written in black and white in the contract that I would get a plug-in charge station for my EV and my stall has an odd NEMA 6-50 high voltage plug that no car can plug in. They don't know the different between a plug on the wall, and a plug-in charge station. 1 month after possession and no resolution.

9. Urine-stained-looking marble used for elevator common area. Definitely B-grade, because they know not to use it in the lobby, which are just fine.

10. Elevator that's been creaking and making weird sounds because it's been used as a service elevator for sub-contractors during construction.

11. (NEW) Apartment main entry door closer gouges into the top of the door. The installer obviously sees it but chose to ignore it because it's not visible if you are a short person. Other residents told me they have the same issue of the door closer arm grinding into the door.

Polygon realistically does not keep their own fleet of workers on payroll for most part of the construction. They do what the other developers do - hire subcontractors, among them are well-established entities like Jordan flooring, Canterbury cabinets, Lisi Mechanical, and Trail appliance. Each phase of construction is compartmentalized so much that they don't communicate with each other. They'd rather let things slip just try to focus on their own task so they can get in and get out. There is no oversight from Polygon to control the quality of the most important and fundamental steps.

Look at the evidence and gauge for yourself how much work you'll need to put in just to make sure you can have a presentable new condo. I would recommend that if you do purchase a property from them, DEMAND at least a 3 hour walk-through and hire a pro inspector to check everything.

lived in a polygon townhome in richmond from 2012 to 2014 - one of the best built townhomes i've lived in. layouts were functional, and sound insulation was great.
