Do not under any circumstances rent with Queen City Property. They attempted to deduct from our security deposit for broken items on the property BEFORE our move in. It is only because I had photo evidence taken during the move-in inspection that they released our deposit back to us. They also tried to charge us for normal wear and tear (anyone familiar with Saskatchewan tenancy regulations knows that the security deposit is for excessive damage).
We made repeated requests for basic repairs during our 1-year lease, as we discovered the house was cheaply constructed (kitchen sink never properly sealed before move-in, we asked for it to be fixed, they never did and instead tried to charge us once again for that repair upon move out! Also: broken dishwasher; washer not connected properly -the repairman sent our informed me the pipes had never been hooked up properly; vent almost fell on our head from the ceiling because they never had it screwed it in -literally no screws evident- and once again, tried to charge it as “damage”; as noted, broken kitchen cabinet shelves prior to move-in; air conditioner broke during a heat wave and we had to fight to get someone sent out to make the repair; towel rack literally fell off the wall and we had to make requests for 3 months to get someone to come fix it). The biggest issue we had was we reported evidence of mice nests in the laundry room (a serious health concern), and although they communicated they would look into it, never did.
I could go on and on, but my biggest concern is if a younger person or family move in and aren’t aware that they attempt to do this, they will use your security deposit to pay for repairs that fall under their jurisdiction. Please please make sure you take photos and videos of EVERYTHING before move in, and keep meticulous records during your residency of repair requests and any lack of follow-through on their end. Upon move-out they WILL attempt to deduct your security deposit for bogus “damage” charges. They haven’t only done it to us, but others as well.
Sean Kundra even showed up at our door during our rental period and was mad at us for removing his realtor sign from our lawn. We had been given no notice such a sign would be placed, and had no idea why a random sign has showed up. The lack of communication is appalling.
Their attempt to take advantage of the people renting with them to make up for their cheap and unscrupulous way of running a property “management” company is horrifying. I wish there had been reviews I could draw from as a young woman looking for a safe place to live. The sole purpose of this review is because I pray this experience doesn’t happen to anyone else.
