We had the worst experience ever with Steven Oei. He represented the house we bought had been built in 2006 when he knew that it was originally constructed in 1976. The house was only partially renovated in 2006. We filed a serious complaint against his misrepresentation at the Real Estate Council of British Columbia (RECBC). The Discipline Committee of RECBC found that Steven committed professional misconduct with penalties.

I have been trying to post my reviews several times, but he keeps deleting my comments. This again has proved his dishonesty. Steven, if you are concerned about what the public has to say, you should handle your business with righteousness, and treat your clients with truthfulness!

I made the unfortunate mistake of working with Sue Johnson and Sarah Thompson, a decision that I fully regret. I had serious questions about their competences, and we have raised our concerns with their managing broker Allison (more on this later). For instance, Sarah Thompson decided to send her assistant to drop off a cheque under our doormat (which Is in an unsecured area), without even letting us know ahead of time or checking to make sure we are ok with it. The assistant didn’t ring the doorbell, because if he had, he would’ve discovered that we were at home. When we raised this issue with Allison, we felt that she was completely dismissive, and claimed that she had nothing to add so she hung up the phone.

On the date of possession, we didn’t even receive the full set of keys. When we told Sue which specific keys were missing, we assumed she would show up with those specific keys. Alas, that seems too much to ask for, as when she brought them over 5 days after the date of possession, the keys we had specified were still missing. The best part? She had these keys all night and they were clearly labelled, so I’m still not sure why she didn’t notice that they were missing. Also, as it turned out, for whatever reason the previous management company Still had in their possession many other keys, and if we hadn’t asked about the missing keys, someone out there might still have them!

Despite all these issues (and there are many more that we haven’t listed), neither Sarah Thompson nor Allison ever bothered to apologise for what we consider to be serious missteps. In fact, I haven’t even heard from Sarah since she drove her assistant to drop off the cheque under our door mat almost two weeks ago. To defend herself and Sarah’s decision, Sue, on multiple occasions, doubled and tripled down. I have no idea why but maybe it is because she strongly feels their actions represent the industry’s best practice, highest duty of care, and customer service? To be clear, this part represents my opinion and assumptions based on my experiences. Other individuals may have very different experiences, but I feel that it is important to share the full picture with what happened to my transaction.
