I had a very negative experience because of this realtor. I bought a condo from one of his clients and after closing he unexpectedly told my realtor that he would be happy to pay for, or hire, a cleaner because the unit was not left in the condition that he prefers. This was a nice offer. Since I am new to town, I asked that he hire the cleaner. This is a decision that I thoroughly regret.

I requested that only my kitchen and bathroom be cleaned because by the time the cleaner was booked, I had already moved in my belongings and I had done a lot of cleaning after a painter had painted the unit. I wish I had instead taken him up on the payment for a cleaner option, because the person that he hired was terrible.

Immediately upon returning to Milton after a few days away, I knew everything was wrong. My spare key and building fob were missing. My vacuum was missing. Its empty box was left in my living room. All of my cleaning supplies, except one no-name window cleaner with a broken sprayer…missing. A pair of Crocs that I left at the front door were missing (random, I know). My freshly painted walls had several scuffs and marks. A soaking wet chemical-filled face towel was left on my bare mattress, leaving behind a massive yellow stain. Needless to say, I was absolutely shocked that my belongings had been stolen and that my space had been treated with so little regard.

Unfortunately, the only thing that was more shocking was this realtor’s response.

After quite a bit of back and forth between him and my realtor, he refused to believe that the cleaner had done any of this because she is his personal cleaner. He chose to do absolutely nothing except ask her to return my keys, which she had for an entire weekend. It is disappointing that he did not take any accountability for the person that he hired. This situation put a sour taste in my mouth and made my first home buying experience more stressful than it needed to be.
