For a few years we planned to move from the hustle and bustle of the GTA area, to the Kawarthas region and buy lakefront property. Our city realtor thought that we should be in the hands of a realtor in the Kawarthas and so we were introduced to Carley Stenson and her husband Josh Lumsden, both of whom have grown up in the area and on the water. Does having a local realtor matter when you are new to an area...ABSOLUTELY.

Carley (and her amazing colleague client care coordinator Jessica) first secured us a furnished rental home so we could take our time finding our home. Then, over the course of 6 months, while home shopping Carley also educated us on the areas, the different Lakes along with the pros and cons of each, well/septic considerations and told us about many of the local festivals and events etc. No stone was left unturned as we learned the importance of boating and the lock system, weeds and rocks, water currents and depths, fishing, lakes freezing (and those that do not), fire routes/maintained and municipal roads. We learned of the niche towns and what they offered: Buckhorn, Bobcaygeon, Lakefield and Bridge North and of the importance of not being too far from the opportunities the larger area of Peterborough & Lindsay may offer.

Carley showed us many homes, even those that we were not necessarily interested in, as she thought it best to see and get a feel as each new place was a learning experience - and she was absolutely right.

When we were closer to making decisions, Carley was patient and let us take the time we needed to consider everything, but she was also enthusiastic and urged us to not leave any potential opportunity at an end, as you just never know what may come of it - and Carley was absolutely spot on.

We look forward beyond words can describe, to our new home and our new chapter in life. Life is complicated and crazy and tiring and everyone has their own things going on. When there are people that can help, and really truly seem to want to, and not because it is their job - that matters to us.
