Not a place to raise a family or find community

This is a warning to anyone looking to purchase a home in what has become a disaster of a neighbourhood.

During the peak of the housing affordability crisis, the developers of Trails of Lilly Lake took advantage of high housing prices to sell a majority of new homes, in batches, to numbered LLC’s which are predominantly financed with foreign money from India. To the suckers sold on the idea of a picturesque quiet community, close to green space and places for children to play, what you will find is exactly the opposite.

Due to the overabundance of corporate landlords who rent these very expensive houses to groups of 6-12 foreign students per unit, the subdivision is overrun with cars parked on the streets, garbage blowing everywhere, and young males speeding down residential streets at 80km/h while blowing stop signs.

It is shocking that a child walking to their bus, person walking a dog, or Joe Schmo trying to pull out of their driveway trying to get to work haven’t been killed yet by one of the many maniacs zipping around the subdivision.

If you buy a house here:

- Your neighbour will most likely put out loads of garbage and recycling ineligible for city waste collection, and will leave it there to rot for months, until it eventually blows its way onto your lawn.

- Your neighbour will most likely never cut their lawn.
Your neighbours will have 6+ vehicles and park the extra ones so close to your driveway you won’t be able to ever safely pull out of your driveway.

- Your neighbours will set off Diwali fireworks in their backyard for 7 straight days, from 9:00pm to 5:00am, regardless if they are warned by police. Houses in the neighbourhood are frequently hit with errant fireworks.

- The landlord of your neighbours will be unreachable for complaints, and will be based in the GTA or India.

- Your neighbours will move every 12 months so the cycle starts all over again.

If you have a family and are considering purchasing a home here, come see for yourself. Come see the garbage. See the hundreds of students packed into single family homes. See the many houses for sale, and lots to be purchased because new sales have stalled. Most of all, come see what a group of developers can accomplish when they shortsightedly chase easy money and destroy what could have been a jewel of a community.
