UPDATE
The WestJet agent, Stairs, mistakenly canceled our flights with the other airline, leaving only the first segment in place. We discovered this error while working with the other airline to resolve the situation.

WestJet, this is simply unacceptable. Your agent’s lack of care and attention to detail has caused unnecessary stress and compounded an already frustrating experience.

I urge you to investigate this issue thoroughly and take steps to prevent such mistakes in the future. This level of service is far below what customers should expect.

I regret purchasing tickets for a multi-segment trip that included a WestJet-operated flight from Calgary to Edmonton (KL9561). On January 5, 2025, when we arrived at the Calgary airport to check in, we were informed at the counter that the flight had been canceled. There was no prior notification—no email, no text, nothing. The cancellation was announced without apology or any proposed alternatives.

The WestJet agent, Stairs, suggested we take a taxi to Edmonton at our own expense, adding that we might “make it” to the next flight. This response came just two hours before the scheduled departure time of 14:30. After repeated requests for proper assistance, the agent called someone and offered an alternative itinerary that delayed our arrival by 24 hours. This option required a grueling 40-hour journey with a three-year-old child, sitting in separate seats on multiple flights.

During our conversation, the agent told us three times to "decide immediately or go to the back of the line," even though the line only had three people. Without resolving our booking, she walked away and passed us off to another staff member.

As someone who has traveled extensively to over 70 countries for personal and professional reasons, I have never encountered such poor service. WestJet, flight disruptions are inevitable at times, but how you handle them reflects your commitment to customers. Responsible businesses address issues with respect and professionalism.

How would you rate your service in this situation? For your reference, here are the flight details:

Flight: KL9561
Date: January 5, 2025
Time: 14:30 - 15:19
Route: Calgary (YYC) - Edmonton (YEG)
WestJet, this was a failure to meet basic standards of communication and customer care. I strongly encourage you to review and improve your service processes.

WestJet Airlines has really let its customers down lately. Flights are often delayed or canceled with little to no communication from the staff. Customer service is slow and unhelpful, leaving passengers stranded without clear answers. Baggage handling is unreliable, with reports of lost luggage becoming more common. Overall, WestJet seems to be struggling to meet even basic expectations, causing frustration for many travelers.

WestJet has really cheapened their flights lately. There's no service or food provided anymore, barely even a snack or drink on a 3 to 4 hour flight. It feels like they're cutting corners just to save money, and passengers are left with nothing. The overall experience has gone downhill, making the flights feel bare-bones and uncomfortable. It’s disappointing to see how little they offer now.

WestJet completely dropped the ball on my recent direct flight. Out of the three bags we checked, they somehow managed to lose one. How does that even happen on a direct flight? To make matters worse, their customer service was unhelpful and slow in responding to the issue. It’s frustrating and unprofessional, and now we're stuck waiting without any real updates. This kind of carelessness is unacceptable.

Keep in mind, that having been a WestJet platinum member for numerous years, I speak from direct experience and history.

It went very proud Canadian airline, now nickel and dimes for every potential service without actually providing that service.

Going from abbotsford the crew and experince was great. We were offered Cookies, Pretzels and Water for just an hour flight. Got better legroom and fortunately got better price. Way better airlines than flair.
Coming back some members of the crew were plain rude though! A purse especially for ladies must be included apart from personal item to be fair.

Horrible experience and follow-up by Airline by high paid do-nothings . I was treated like trash and marginalized by staff in front of hundreds of guests while checking on my son and bag ! The Rep was screaming at me and threatened me ! I could not believe it ! ...all for asking about my bag and why there was a delay with my son's bag! Outright horrible people! HUGE ERROR by Customer service staff ! Also washrooms on aircraft were awful and dirty and 20 deep to get to them all flight long ! Horrible airline ! Here is the "screamer " employee and here is the washroom line ! I called - they told me ' this is normal service on our airline ' . Lord help us in Canada ! This airline is out of control ! DONT FLY WITH THEM - GO WITH PORTER OR THE LIKE IF IN CANADA. Executive at Onex and WestJet could care less ! ONEX CORP. , SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES!

Flights are cheap, food is overpriced, seats are ok (3,5hr flight was duable), staff is either lovely or will yell at you.
On the way out they will rush you literally saying; go, go, gooo! No:"thank you", "good night" or so, which I found weird.
