Beautiful location, loved everything there. The fire pit, yard, patio, spacious and well appointed living areas. Everyone there was friendly but also felt we had privacy and freedom to relax and enjoy. I have no clue what others on these reviews are talking about. Some people are just overly picky perhaps? There were no issues with anything and this was one of the best vacations ever, due in part to staying at Xanadu estates. Loved the chickens and fresh eggs there as well. The location was perfect and so were the grounds.

We were fortunate to stay at this wonderful place for three months to escape the Saskatchewan winter. It truly felt like a home away from home. The grounds were beautiful, the forest serene and the location in stunning Cowichan Valley was very convenient. Only 30 minutes to Victoria! Grocery stores were only five minutes away in either Cobble Hill or Mill Bay.
Jane was a lovely host and was extremely helpful. We would absolutely recommend Xanadu as a winter escape or year-round retreat.

We spent a week here. This place served us perfectly. Check-in was very relaxed. We made day trips to Victoria, Port Renfrew, and of course spent time around Duncan and Cowichan Bay. The children very much enjoyed the trampoline, watching the deer at the edge of the lawn, and feeding the resident rabbit a few carrots. At the end of the day there was plenty of space in our suite for us all (6) to relax. All bedding and kitchenware were provided. There was some residence upstairs, but we didn’t notice them. We felt like we had the whole backyard to ourselves. Thanks for the comfortable stay. We would definitely consider visiting here again. I know this review is a few years late, I hope it isn’t inappropriate, but this place hasn’t received enough reviews for its value.

I began visiting in February 2019 off and on from Vancouver. Jane, the owner, and I agreed on a long term stay commencing September 2019 in the cabin escape. Jane always wanted to be paid in cash. In May 2019 I was hospitalized for major depression and had to cancel my summer bookings. Of course Jane kept the entire booking fee. THEN in September I sublet my Vancouver apartment for one year and relocated to her cabin giving her a $730 damage deposit. One week after I arrived I determined she had been entering the property without my consent because she took the vacuum. I asked her to give me proper notice. THEN, the next night at 10 pm she showed up with another vacuum and barged in. She cornered me in my bedroom swearing angrily. I had to run out of the cabin barefoot onto the dirt road to get away from her. I was yelling "help" to the neighbor whom I got to know. He came out. Jane then sat in her car outside my cabin for two hours while I cried. THEN two days later she came in the morning and, once again, forced her way in. She stated "Are you too mentally ill to understand that the police are going to throw you out at the end of the month." She said she wouldn't accept anymore rent. This time she stepped back out on the patio and I locked the door. She wiggled the handle and tried to get back in. Terrified, I now had nowhere to live.THEN a few days later she ran her car into the back of me while I was walking up the road on the property and told me I had better be working on finding another place. I had nowhere to go and had a little dog. I sent her an email transfer for the full month of October for $1800 but was so terrified of her that I left in middle of the month and was homeless in the Cowichan Valley until I could find something else until I could return to my sublet apartment in Vancouver in October of 2020. I have been completely traumatized by this experience and just recently filed a human rights complaint. This woman must be stopped. She also has two grow ops on the property. I have listed her business on YELP and think everyone should post reviews there.

Just to be clear and so it's known that this review is honest and real. The facility I am staying in is fine, even nice, I'm here for a day or two more because I will be taking Jane and perhaps VRBO to court. My wife booked this accommodation for me as we are moving to the island. My wife was unable to come immediately and so I inhabited the residence on my own. Let me say at first I was happy with the room but was taken back when I found out there was no cable TV. Jane informed me that there was tons of TV on the Apple Box. There isn't. Apparently there is private parking in front of your door. There isn't. Turns out Jane of her own accord switched our room, admittedly to our face, without our knowing and because I didn't book the room I was unaware until my wife showed up! Jane was having company that night so to be nice we suggested Jane come talk with us in the morning. She wouldn't have any of that, asked what's wrong and we told her. TV not working, even the Apple Box. There was a bit of an altercation, Jane informed us we would get no money back, she was booked until November, VRBO would give us no money back. Turns out there are 15 deficiencies listed on what is to be provided and what we are receiving. jane doesn't care. I will shorten it up and say CANCEL!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE THE OTHER BAD REVIEWS ARE REAL!!!! BUSINESS LIKE THIS NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN!

PS. I guarantee she will respond with a comment of the room I am in is nicer. I think we should be the judge of that not Jane! RUN!

pps. jANE IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL A PRODUCT TO SOMEONE AND SWITCH IT WITHOUT THEIR KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT.

Haven’t even arrived at our reserved suite at Xanadu Estates but I have serious questions about this lodging. I gave 2 months notice of cancellation (even amid the Covid -19 pandemic) and cannot get back my deposit of $339.60. To be honest it started to frighten me how deceiving a company can be.) Started reading reviews and looking at her false representation of what she is offering gave me big concerns. Different rates for different suites or same suites all over the internet. Googling “Xanadu Estates” I found she is advertising suites with washer and dryer (not true, apparently coin operated only by a reviewer ), a pool (also not
true), and you may end up in a suite down the road of inferior quality. Don’t even ask about the infrared sauna. Her advertisements show numerous different pics of numerous different suites which I am sure aims to confuse the traveller as it did to me. Stay away. Find somewhere honest to do business. This is for sure not this place.
